Weekly Releases 22.08.25
Your round-up of the latest and greatest sounds heading your way over the next few days.
Well ladies, theydies and gentlemen, we’ve finally made it to the biggest cultural moment of the decade. Yes, Joy from the greatest girl group of all time (Red Velvet) is finally dropping her first (proper) solo release and… No wait, that wasn’t it (as much as it should be in a just world). Yep, there is a new Deftones album in our laps on this fine Friday morning, and the bullet-hypetrain is about to lift off the tracks. Reception to the singles has been generally very positive, but can they make it all the way to their destination, or are we primed for the deadliest derailment since (insert callous and highly inappropriate reference to tragic event here).
But if you’re one of those weirdos who isn’t fully invested in the first nu-metal band to discover reverb pedal abuse, there’s still plenty of gems here for you. A surpise Earl Sweatshirt drop, a big change of direction for The World Is a Beautiful Place… (I am not typing out the whole name again), and the aptly-titled debut EP Provocateur from electropop upstart Adéla, and you’ll see why if you scroll down. These and many others can be sampled in our handy Spotify playlist below.
In celebration of actually publishing this on time for once, here are this week’s hottest new releases…

Have we missed anything? Almost certainly. Are you gonna shout it out in the comments? No, you’re gonna be jamming the Deftones record and having very normal takes and debates it for the next three weeks. I know your type…
On that note, anyone made a DefTones & I mashup yet? Pink Monkey could go hard. Shoutout any other audio abortions you’re pining for below.
