Weekly Releases (08.08.25)
Your round-up of the latest and greatest sounds heading your way over the next few days.
Better late than never, welcome to the second edition of our Weekly Releases roundup, this time with the added bonus that most of these albums have already dropped at the time of publication! Next week’s should be a little more prompt hopefully. Anyway, yet another week has arrived promising goodies, not least the long-waited sophomore album from indie-goth religious-trauma postergirl Ethel Cain, which somehow has a shorter runtime than the ‘EP’ they dropped earlier this year, although still well past the hour mark.
Other big releases this week include the much-hyped follow-up to 2022’s The Forever Story from rapper JID, and the sure-to-be-sensual new album from dance and R&B star Amaarae, who will be looking to build on the breakthrough success of previous album Fountain Baby. Personally, it’s hard to look past new releases from Australian producer Ninajirachi who has been steadily gaining momentum for her nostalgic blend of electropop and millenial house, and another new EP from former LOONA star Yves, which contains a tantalising feature from it-girl PinkPantheress. Honestly there’s a lot of good stuff (hopefully) coming out this week, so my backlog grows ever longer, as presumably does yours.
Want a taster of each release? Check the linked playlist below from the official gatekeep! Spotify account, which has compiled a selection of pre-release singles for your perusal.
And finally, here are this week’s hottest new releases…
