Weekly Releases (06.03.26)
All sorts of excitement from the first week of March
The first week of March sees a really diverse set of go-tos, including a new EP from electronic pioneer Flying Lotus, an 80-minute monster from Japan’s most palatable indie-pop mainstays Yorushika, and some lovely artwork on the latest full-length from Americana veteran Bonnie “Prince” Billy.
Meanwhile, new output from the likes of Okkyung Lee, Patrick Shiroishi and Tanya Tagaq leaves no shortage of material for the experimentally minded, London jazz luminary Shabaka is at it again, Denzel Curry’s rap collective The Scythe drops its first full mix, and with both Miserere Luminis and Bosse-de-Nage dropping new LPs, it’s also an exciting week for black metal!
Oh yeah, and there’s a new Harry Styles record.
As a special heads-up, I’m helming the series this week while Sunny goes travelling — and since I’m unsure exactly where he’s off to, I can in good faith say that if you, dear reader, put on your best cowboy boots and head down to your local on any given evening, you have a one-in-[redacted] opportunity of finding that most affable of gents sat behind a glass of the good stuff. Approach in good cheer, and enjoy the most pleasant catch-up on folk music anyone can offer you this year (or, alternatively, just stay tuned for next week’s list).
Have fun!
