SINGLE SPOTLIGHT: ERRA - "further eden"
We are so back, as ERRA confirms a new album on the way

“Gore of Being” was perhaps the best gift ERRA fans could’ve asked for, a fantastic message shouted from the rooftops that the Birmingham quintet still had the magic present on their 2020 self-titled album. And if that wasn’t enough, the beauty of follow-up single “Echo Sonata” further confirmed that this was no one-off fluke. ERRA were set to return to labyrinthine riffs and brutal breakdowns. An album announcement seemed imminent. Well, it’s now January 29th, and ERRA have dropped a brand new single, and an album announcement along with it.
“further eden” is easily the best of the three singles ERRA have released from their upcoming album, Silence Outlives the Earth. There’s so much I can highlight here, between the perfect marriage of Cure’s grooves and the more intricate riffs that ERRA are known for, one of Jesse Cash’s greatest vocal performances yet, JT Cavey letting loose an unholy screech, and the band delivering a breakdown that rivals “Snowblood” or “Gungrave”, a fierce assault of fretboard scratches and stuttering chugs.
Cure is an album that grew on me more with each consecutive listen, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t hoping to see a true proper follow-up to the self-titled album. With “further eden”, ERRA seem to confirm what “Gore” and “Echo Sonata” have been hinting at: we’re about to get exactly that. I’m sat and ready for March, and I hope you all are too.
