As black metal season gradually creeps closer, it seems like September came in thrashin’. We have a great colorful selection of the old school-style rippers this week, so prepare to be Violatered, Assaultered, and Electrocutioned until you’re Condition Critical! (Isn’t that what we listen to this stuff for?)
Not to say there’s nothing frosty to speak of this week. Lvthn, Absolutum, and Autrest are diving straight into the autumnal (or even wintry already) with atmospheric yet ferocious black metal. Never fear, Hasard and the unstoppable force that is Esoctrilihum are here for those who prefer the esoteric end of the spectrum.
Other standouts to watch: Ritual Mass’ first full-length of lumbering OSDM, Cult Burial’s thunderous display of blackened death-doom, and Erosion proving some of the fiercest D-beat grind can emerge from the Great White North.

Wow, has it really been ten weeks already? To celebrate this totally important, very meaningful milestone, we, uh, will just keep doing things the way we always have.
In addition to pointing out this little anniversary of ours—which, funnily enough, coincides with one of the most DM-light weeks in recent memory—I wanted to highlight two more releases: Haemalharia are sowing discord by way of arcane blackdeath, and if it’s a bit of the old powerviolence you’re after, you might want to give Regression’s new EP a spin.
This week’s singles section features fresh tunes from Veilburner, Primitive Man, and Fleshvessel, along with Liminal Erosion’s debut track. We may or may not have thrown in a few red herrings for your amusement.
